How to Apply?

Applications for all NATA Foundation scholarships are completed online. A link to the application will be available on this page once the application period opens—please check back regularly for updates.

Application Requirements:

  • Applicants will be required to answer several essay questions and upload their current academic transcripts.

  • For the Pre-Athletic Training Scholarship only, applicants must also upload a copy of their FAFSA Submission Summary.

  • Students must provide the name and email address of a recommender. This individual will automatically receive a link to complete a brief recommendation questionnaire.
    Important: For the Professional and Post-Professional scholarships, your recommender must be a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer.

All application materials—including transcripts, supporting documents, and the completed recommendation form—must be submitted by the application deadline. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all components are completed on time, including following up with your recommender if necessary.

PRE-ATHLETIC TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP

Are you planning to enter a CAATE-accredited professional athletic training program within the next year? This scholarship is designed just for you!

About the Scholarship:
The NATA Foundation is excited to announce the launch of a new and impactful scholarship opportunity: the NBATA Foundation Scholarship. This initiative is made possible through the generous support of the National Basketball Athletic Trainers Association Foundation, whose commitment to advancing the athletic training profession continues to make a profound difference. This award supports Pre-Athletic Training students—those preparing to begin their first year in a CAATE-accredited professional program. It aims to assist future athletic trainers from the very beginning of their academic path, with a focus on students who demonstrate financial need.

2025 Award Cycle – Key Dates & Eligibility

  • Application Opens: Early June 2025
  • Application Deadline: June 30, 2025
  • Award Announcement: Fall 2025 (timeline may vary based on application volume)

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Program Status: Must be entering Year 1 of a CAATE-accredited professional athletic training program between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025. Proof of enrollment will be required if awarded.
  • Academic Standing: Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • NATA Membership: Must be a current member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association at the time of the application deadline. [Learn how to become a member here].

PROFESSIONAL LEVEL SCHOLARSHIP

Already enrolled in a CAATE-accredited professional program? This scholarship is for current students in either their first or second year of study.

About the Scholarship:
This award supports students currently working toward their professional athletic training degree and recognizes both academic achievement and commitment to the profession.

2026 Award Cycle – Key Dates & Eligibility (2025 cycle is now closed)

  • Application Opens: November 15, 2025
  • Application Deadline: January 15, 2026
  • Award Announcement: Spring 2026 (timeline may vary based on application volume)

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Enrollment: Must be enrolled in a CAATE-accredited professional program as of January 15, 2026. [Learn more about CAATE-accredited programs here].
  2. Academic Standing: Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale)
  3. NATA Membership: Must be a current member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association at the time of the application deadline. [Learn how to become a member here].

POST-PROFESSIONAL LEVEL SCHOLARSHIP

Are you a BOC-certified athletic trainer continuing your education in a post-professional program? This scholarship may be a great fit.

About the Scholarship:
This award supports certified athletic trainers who are pursuing advanced degrees in post-professional programs, including master’s, PhD, or Doctor of Athletic Training (DAT) programs.

2026 Award Cycle – Key Dates & Eligibility (2025 cycle is now closed)

  • Application Opens: November 15, 2025
  • Application Deadline: January 15, 2026
  • Award Announcement: Spring 2026 (timeline may vary based on application volume)

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Certification & Enrollment: Must be BOC-certified and enrolled in a post-professional graduate or doctoral program (e.g., master’s, PhD, DAT) as of January 15, 2026
  2. Academic Standing: Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale)
  3. NATA Membership: Must be a current member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association at the time of the application deadline. [Learn how to become a member here].
